Post Natal Pilates
Have you had a baby in the last 12 months?
If you have had a baby and you would like to start exercising again, Post natal Pilates is perfect for healing your body with gentle Pilates exercise. It is suitable for women of all ages whether you have done Pilates before or are a complete beginner.
My story
When I was pregnant a few years back, I continued to go to my Pilates class until 37 weeks (you can continue longer but I was working as a school teacher full time & I was shattered!) and started again 8 weeks after I had my daughter, once I had my post-natal check with my GP.
During those weeks off I desperately missed my Pilates class! I walked & did gentle stretching daily but I felt a wreck, my shoulder muscles were tight and hunched, my lower back ached and my posture was out of alignment and I walked back into my class and asked my teacher to fix me! It took a few months but slowly, through gentle, modified Pilates exercises I was able to regain my strength & flexibility, improve my posture, relax my shoulders and develop my fitness.
This is what I aim to help post-natal women in Leicester to do with my Pilates classes - to feel good in their bodies again.
All about the Pilates...
The Pilates exercises focus on healing your body from the inside out, strengthening your abdominal muscles, improving your pelvic floor, breathing fully & stabilising your pelvis. Plus we include exercises that will help with all the common areas of tightness & tension that Mums have - tight shoulders, lower back ache etc
All in a gentle, controlled way in a group with other mums who are on a similar journey.
The postnatal period is a time to have patience with your body and give yourself time to recover.
The aims of the class are to...
Further info....
I am fully qualified with Level 3 Pre & Post natal exercise and Level 3 Pilates and I'm fully insured.
You will need to have had your 6-8 week check with your GP (10 weeks Post partum for C-Sections) have stopped bleeding to attend the class - if you are unsure please check with your GP or midwife.
The post-natal class is not currently running - however, I am able to accommodate post-natal ladies into my general Pilates classes and modify the exercises throughout the post-natal period so that they are able to transition into more challenging Pilates exercises when ready.
